Navigator Team

The Kaiser Permanente MERN (Medical Education Research Navigation) team aims to connect eligible physician trainees with research projects and experienced research mentors in Kaiser Permanente Northern California (KPNC).

The MERN team consists of:

• Regional medical education navigator, Ann-Marie Surmava, MBA
• A group of research project managers who support medical education-sponsored scholarly projects in KPNC medical centers

MERN services include:

• An initial consultation to understand a trainee’s research and mentorship interests
• Liaison* with an existing research project based on a trainee’s research interests
• Liaison* with an experienced research mentor in a trainee’s clinical area of interest
